Abandoned Bike Removal Project

Over July and August, we asked businesses to complete a bicycle survey so that we could understand the issues your employees were having with bike storage and parking to gauge demand for further stands. It became clear that abandoned bikes are a significant issue in the city.

Cardiff BID, in partnership with Cardiff Council and the South Wales Police, undertook a removal operation of these abandoned bikes. That took place on Tuesday 29th August.

All abandoned bikes were identified for removal by a green Cardiff BID notice, asking individuals to let us know if they believed their bike was tagged incorrectly. Also, if people identified bikes that did not have a green tag and they believed they were abandoned, they were asked to inform us via email.
